Values and foundation
Our community is based on joint responsibility and respect for one another. We support both the individual student and the community, and we wish to have a structure that is free and secure.
The values of our school is based on pedagogical and democratical development, teachings and research. The personal and collective civilization at our school is based on Faroese culture and history.
Our vision is also based on informational, developmental and democratical civilization. We believe that with a good community and practice, we can have a thriving learning environment where the individual student can develop and mature.
The school’s purpose is to develope and educate people to take responsibility for their own lives and together in a community.
The school’s purpose: research and knowledge
The school’s purpose: research and knowledge
In Føroya Eftirskúla we see it as a part of our duty to teach the students about life and culture on the Faroe Islands, with all represented perspectives and differences. In this way we can give the individual student the capability to be a part of a personal and socially minded civilisation.
Throughout the school year we achieve these capabilities by visiting, meeting and researching all the islands of the Faroe Islands, through the school community and professional focus in the school’s subjects and tracks.
We wish that our students will achieve experiences through learning and civilisation of the different cultures on the Faroe Islands, with regards to the different subjects. These values are visible in the professional and joint relations at our school, where we develope confidence and responsibility with other students and the individual student.
The Faroe Islands as a foundation
At Føroya Eftirskúli we teach the students about their civilisation in context with Faroese culture and history. We achieve this in our special track called ‘Faroe Islands track’ where the students will be able to visit and study all the 18 islands on the Faroe Islands.
Vision
We work to inspire the students to be courageous, capable and wanting to have a good life for themselves and others.
It is important for us that the students are able to:
- Learn a lot.
- Study the environment and country.
- Develop as an individual and to be creative.
- Be together with others in a community and to work well together.
- Be challenged in doubts and knowledge.
- Freedom to make personal decisions.
